Most people who identify as Christians put their Church, Denomination, Priest, Pastor, Televangelist or whatever before Jesus. They will also normally put their Church, etc as a higher authority than the Bible, which they have probably never read even once cover-to-cover. For a genuine Christian their relationship with Jesus and the Authority of Scripture must be absolutely central. Given the vast number of different churches holding to different views, it should be self-evident that attachment to a particular Church is not what Christianity is about. Denomination is also roundly condemned by Paul in Chapter 3 of 1 Corinthians. But how would anyone know that without reading the Bible?
Most “Christians” claim to follow a Church and Jesus. The big question is, which one takes precedence?
